Hi, I’m Kristen

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, psychotherapist, facilitator and educator providing body-based, inclusive therapy services to women, non-binary individuals, working professionals, and parents. I help my clients build insight and self connection, practical coping skills, and confidence through a blend of talk therapy, movement and mindfulness practices.

My Background

My own lived experiences, education, and training are what lead me to become the therapist I am today.

Over the span of my career I’ve worked in higher education program development, Student Affairs, and faculty positions. In recent years, I’ve provided individual psychotherapy in private practice settings, as well as college counseling centers at the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Michigan. I’ve always been inspired by active learning spaces that are responsive, innovative, and collabortive.

Continuing to learn about contemporary, evidence-based practices that support my clients’ mental health and well-being is an ethical obligation and a personal passion. I have specialized training in yoga teaching (RYT-200), somatic psychotherapy practices, and I hold a certification in The Art of Holding Perinatal Women in Distress™: Assessment, Treatment, & Advanced Clinical Practice from the Postpartum Stress Center LLC.

I work to provide a welcomimg, affirming therapeutic space for all of my clients so that they can feel safe to be vulnerable. I acknowledge the complexity of our multiple social identities and lived experiences, therefore I use a multicultural framework in my practice.

I embrace the following philosophies…

  • I believe that everyone is deserving of care and support to help with all aspects of life

  • I believe that you are capable of growth and healing

  • I believe that even if we feel like we've lost hope it's possible to show up, commit to ourselves, and do what it takes to start feeling more connected to the core of who we are

  • Our sessions are focused on you

Sessions will provide you with the safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals. Therapy can often help with gaining more clarity and insight into patterns that are no longer serving you.

  • My style and approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and interdisciplinary. I draw from cognitive and somatic interventions, often referred to as body-centered therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
