What is Somatic Psychotherapy?
Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach that explores the deep connection between mind and body. It often weaves together traditional talk therapy with mindfulness, movement, and expressive or creative practices. As an integrative and experiential form of therapy, somatic work can be deeply nourishing—supporting greater curiosity and compassion toward ourselves and others, strengthening body and sociocultural awareness, and cultivating new skills for growth, regulation, and change.
Somatic practices can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, including trauma, addiction, grief, depression, stress, and anxiety.
Somatics is a broad field that includes many different clinical interventions. My approach is integrative and tailored to each client, drawing from cognitive-behavioral techniques, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, neuroscience, and somatic narrative to support healing and wholeness.
